Living a full life with ALS - Easter 2010

My mom is writing a book with her life. It is a remarkable and incredibly inspiring book. I would title the book, Living a full life with ALS. It sounds impossible. A full life with ALS sounds like an oxymoron. I don’t know how she’s doing it. I tell her all the time it has to be her prayer team. Mom does not let her many challenges stop her from living a good life. A full life. A normal life -- albeit a new normal each day.

We celebrated Easter last weekend with all the normal rituals. Mom and Dad attended their church service in the morning. We came over after church. Sandy’s kids stayed just long enough to dye eggs and hunt for the candy before they dashed back out the door. That Easter was complete with these activities, along with the usual Ham dinner is amazing in light the battle with a serious illness such as ALS. Bill, Chris, and I spend the day with Mom and Dad. We even took an Easter walk. It was a gorgeous spring day. It was great to be together.

Love you, ma!
