I love spending the day with my mom! I often wish I didn’t have to work so I could spend every day with her.
I recently spent a really cold winter day with her. While it was cold outside, her smile when I walked in the door warmed my heart and quickly dispelled any lingering thoughts of the subzero winter temperature. I gave her the biggest, warmest hug in reply.
The light in her eyes, despite the terrible disease that ravages her body, never ceases to amaze me. A warmer light, you’d be hard pressed to find.
Mom had friends stop by to say hello. She offered them food and drink while we shared our Christmas pictures. Bill and I had made a special photo book of her quilts, and she loves to share the book with visitors.
My favorite part of spending a day with mom is always when we sit together in her big chair, with the fireplace on, when Annie (dog) and Sally (cat) come and sit with us. It’s a warm and cozy feeling.
My mom has ALS. Our time together is so precious.
